Cecil Junior Brayfield, 82, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Lamar, Mo., passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home. He was born August 5, 1930 in Rogersville, Mo., to the late Cecil Fred and Viola Mae (Lansdown) Brayfield. At an early age he and his parents moved to Springfield, Mo., where he attended Springfield Schools, later moving to Lamar, Mo and in 1995 he retired and moved to Joplin, Mo. On October 24, 1970 he was united in marriage to Darlene Bernhagen in Webb City, Mo., and to this union one daughter was born, Princess Darlene. He was a Janitor for many years at the Lamar Vo-Tech.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Brayfield of Springfield, Mo and Matthew Bernhagen of Joplin, four daughters; Princess Kentner and husband Richard of Golden City, Mo., Patty Hill and husband Larry and Connie Matthews and husband Mike, all of Springfield, and Christine Griffitt of Lamar, Mo., one brother, Dennis Brayfield, Columbia, Mo., three sisters, Mary Wilhelm of Columbia, Mo., Myrtle Bray of Palm Springs, California and Joann Davis of Branson, Mo and one daughter in law, Diane Brayfield of Springfield, Mo., seven grandsons; Kyle Lowe, Kenneth Bernhagen, Tom Brayfield, Jeff Brayfield, Mark Brayfield, Jimmy Brayfield, Jr. and Christopher Matthews, seven granddaughters; Emily Lowe, Katie Bernhagen, Renea Griffitt, Kim Mooneyham, Sharon Eagleburger, Christina Matthews and Shannon Brayfield; fourteen great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Cecil is preceded in death by one daughter; Betty June Brayfield and one son; Junior Lee Brayfield, three brothers; Jack Brayfield, Billy Joe Brayfield and Alan Brayfield; three sisters, Helen Brayfield, Paulett Addington and Wilma Goodwin.
Family will have a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri.
