LAMAR-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church for Vera B. Caruthers, 85, Lamar, who died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Truman Healthcare and Rehab. Dr. Robb Hodson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Derek Banwart, Devin Banwart, Brice Caruthers, Brenton Caruthers, Kent Bishop, Jon Herrbach and Scott Rice. Musical selections include “Evening Prayer”, “Because He Lives” and “How Great Thou Art”.
Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz-Warden Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Survivors include a son, David Caruthers and wife Pam, Lamar; a daughter, Peggy Banwart and husband David, Lamar; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Ring, Nashville, Mo. and Shirley Cook, Arnold, and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Sprouls; her twin sister, Velma Sprouls, and a daughter, Janet Rice.
Mrs. Caruthers was born July 26, 1927, in Oakton, to Bert and Nellie (Hininger). She was a 1945 graduate of Lamar High School. She was a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell and had worked at Thorco, Lilly’s Department Store, the Lamar Clinic and for Dr. Ted Reavley.
She was a member of the Oakton Baptist Church before moving membership to Lamar First Baptist Church. She taught Bible school and Sunday school. She was also in the choir and on the kitchen committee.
She married Frank Caruthers on May 17, 1947, in Girard, Kan. He preceded her in death.
