NEVADA-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Ferry Funeral Home for Marion Elzworth “Elza” Smith, 87, Nevada, who died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. The Rev. Dennis Painter will officiate. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Smith and wife Ida, Lamar, and Loyd Smith, Joplin; two daughters, Dorothy Mundy and husband Al, Sheldon, and Rosalyn Beard, Nevada; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Yeats, Nevada; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special friend, Linda Cole, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil L. Smith.
Mr. Smith was born March 1, 1926, in Milford, to James Benjamin and Mary Alma (Bridgewater) Smith. He was reared in the Barton and Vernon County areas. He attended the Milo school system. He had worked for the Nevada State Hospital Dairy Barn. He later worked for the Missouri State Highway Department for 35 years. He had his own lawn mowing business for 28 years and lived in Nevada all of his adult life.
He married Opal H. Shafer on Oct. 19, 1946, in El Dorado, Kan. She died Jan. 17, 2008.
