LOCKWOOD-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood for John Reece Smith, 55, Lockwood, who died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his home. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lockwood.
Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Smith, of the home; a son, Matthew Smith and wife Mallory, Berryville, Ark.; two brothers, Rick and wife Gaichylle, Lenexa, Kan. and Jeff and wife Debbie, St. Charles; his mother-in-law, Judy, Lockwood; two brothers-in-law, Jon and wife Laura, Raymore and Mike and wife Connie, Lockwood, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Gordon Singleton.
Mr. Smith was born March 15, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo., to Norman and Vida Jo (Drye) Smith. He was baptized as a young person and was confirmed August 22, 1999 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood. He was a graduate of Hickman Mills High School, KCMO and had worked for the General Motor Leeds Plant. After it closed he worked for Pennzoil Products. He owned and operated a screen print business that he bought to make jerseys for his son’s soccer team. He was a coach for soccer teams in Kansas City, as well as for Immanuel Lutheran School. Later in life he co-operated a cattle and pig farm that raised all natural beef and pork. He was honored as Dade County farmer of the year.
He married Lori Singleton in March of 1981 at Kansas City, Mo.
