FRONTENAC, Kan.-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Konantz Warden Chapel in Lamar, Mo. for Bonnie J. Pierce, 87, Frontenac, who died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Medical Lodge of Frontenac. Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pittsburg State University Campus Ministry.
Music will be provided by Jarel Burnside, with “In The Garden” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere”. Pallbearers will be Dwight Pierce, Bobby Pierce, Danny Pierce, Dustin Strong, Scott Kirby, Kyle Kirby, Kirby Brunk and Randy Brunk.

Survivors include a son, Charles Pierce and wife Carol, Liberal, Mo.; grandchildren, Charlene Strong and husband Dustin, Frontenac, Dwight Pierce, Jasper, Mo., Bobby Pierce and wife Angela, Kansas City, Mo. and Danny Pierce, Frontenac; a brother, J.D. Kirby and wife Jo, Liberal, Mo., and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pierce was born Nov. 11, 1925, at home in rural Barton County, to James Thomas and Josie Ann (Dryer) Kirby. She graduated from Minden School in Mindenmines and was employed as a secretary for the school after graduation. After getting married she became a homemaker and a farmers wife. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and past president of the PTA.
She married Raymond E. Pierce on Nov. 10, 1945, at the Rev. Stevenson’s home in Pittsburg. He preceded her in death.
