RURAL JASPER-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jasper Methodist Church for Ruby Lorene Rives, 77, rural Jasper, who died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mitchell Cemetery, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald L. Rives, of the home; two sons and their wives, Ronald “Chub” and Terry Rives and Donald “Duck” and Dora Rives, all of Jasper; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Gailand Johnston, Lamar; a brother, Ivan Voorhees, Jr., Arma, Kan.; three sisters, Fay Storm and husband Lee and Imajean Pierson and husband Russell, all of Lamar and Frances McDaniel and husband Karl, Carthage; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Ray Rives and two sisters, Rosalee Monroe and Dolly Toms.
Mrs. Rives was born July 20, 1936, in the Barton County community of Newport, to Ivan C. and Zona Marie (Waggoner) Voorhees. She attended Lamar High School and then earned a nursing degree from Franklin Tech Nursing School. After working in several area hospitals, she began a 22 year career at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Carthage, retiring in 2009. She attended Jasper Methodist Church.
She married Ronald L. Rives on Nov. 20, 1951, at Huntsville, Ark.
