LUTHER ADAM “DUTCH” ETCHESON

JASPER-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Weng Funeral Chapel for Luther Adam “Dutch” Etcheson, 85, Jasper, who died Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral chapel.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Etcheson, Diamond, and Louis Etcheson and Joe Etcheson, both of Jasper; three daughters, Sandra Sprouls, Liberal, Sherry Hopkins, Jasper and Linda Chapman, Springfield; a brother, Sam Etcheson, Alba; two sisters, Martha Condon, Lamar, and Lois Baird, Jasper; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by a son, James Etcheson; two grandsons, John Adam and Aaron Etcheson; two brothers, Virgil and Robert and a sister, Viola.

 

Mr. Etcheson was born Jan. 24, 1928, in Barton County, to Leroy and Mary (Engle) Etcheson. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Jasper VFW Post No. 6415 and a member of the Jasper Baptist Church.

 

He married Beulah “Tootie” Smith on March 1, 1951, at Bentonville, Ark. She died July 22, 2011.
