WICHITA, Kan.-Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, for Marian Marie (Helms) (Thorburn) Richardson, 81, Wichita, who died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, after battling cancer for several years. Funeral services in Lamar, Mo. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial was in Killey Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include two sons, Winfred “Gene” and Jody Thorburn, Wichita, and Robert Thorburn, Augusta; three daughters, Ruth Ellis and husband Herb, Sanger, Texas, Lois Goodwin and husband Mike, Holton and Janet Fortier, Wichita; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl and twins Floyd and Lloyd Helms; five sisters, Orpha Jungman, Letha Lorene Doyle, Margie Slinker, Helen Taylor and Marian’s twin, Marian Louise, and a son, James Thorburn.
Mrs. Richardson was born January 22, 1932, in Lamar, Mo., to Pearl Lee and Margaret (Dixon) Helms. She married Winfred Elmer Thorburn in 1950 and they moved to Wichita in 1954. Later in life she married William Richardson.
