SHELDON-Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hall Cemetery in Jerico Springs for Nelda Noreen Chapman, 82, Sheldon, who died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Pastor Bonnie Berry will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Survivors include her son, Darrell Smith and wife Linda, El Dorado Springs; a grandson, Ronnie Smith and wife Melissa, Sheldon; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Smith, Sheldon, Jared Nelson and Taylor, Lamar and Jordan Conner, Carthage; a niece, Pam Bowen, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Maxwell.
Mrs. Chapman was born April 23, 1931, in Nevada, to Darrell S. and Sarah Belle (Wilson) Maxwell. She grew up in Milo and was a 1948 graduate of Nevada High School. She married Robert Smith and to their union one son was born. In 1977 she moved to Texas and was then married to Joe Chapman. He preceded her in death. She returned to the Sheldon area in 2011. She was a seamstress all of her life, working at the Reno Cleaners while in Texas. She also loved to bowl and loved cats.
