LAMAR-Harriett Alma Maynard, 70, Lamar, passed away on February 15, 2014, in Joplin, Mo.
She was born July 11, 1943 in Richland Township of Hemlock, Mich. Alma was the daughter of James Dennis Gilmore and Mildred Louise “Holly” Gilmore of Lansing, Mich.
In 1960 she was united in marriage to Billy D. Robinson and later divorced. Together they had two sons.
On January 1, 1966 she was united in marriage to James “Jim” E. Maynard Jr., who preceded her in death in 2010 and together they raised four children. Alma worked as a homemaker and mother with intermittent periods as a certified nurse assistant, medical assistant and emergency medical technician. She is survived by four sons, Billy D. Robinson II, Tishomingo, Miss., Joe D. Robinson, Huntington, Ind. and James E. Maynard III and David L. Maynard, both of Joplin; a sister, Rita Moore and a brother, Gary D. Gilmore, both of Tucson, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Estelle Hinterman, Tucson, Ariz. and Marilyn Keiser, Merced, Calif. and two brothers, Kenton Gilmore, Merrill, Mich. and Lynden Gilmore, Tucson, Ariz.
Alma was taken for cremation by the Konantz Warden Funeral Home of Lamar, Mo. She was gently laid to rest in a graveside service held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at Jasper Cemetery in Carthage, Mo. Pastor Gaylon Beyersdorfer officiated in her honor.
