MONETT-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett for Johny Lee Payne, 59, Monett, who died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Cassville. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Monett V.F.W.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Burton, Purdy; his mother, Beulah Wells, Monett; three sisters, Deb Feather, Sarcoxie, Pam Roller, Purdy and Sherri Lynn Phillips, Lamar; four grandchildren, Roddy, Bryan, Kaden and Kenna Liggett, Purdy; five stepsisters, Barbra Hahn, Carthage, Ruthie Thomas, Cassville, Charlette Neimeyer, Lake of the Ozark, Joy Burns, Tulsa, Okla. and Patsy Cooper, Kansas City, Mo., and a stepbrother, Doug Wells, Neosho.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Diane Payne.
Mr. Payne was born June 3, 1954 in South Gate, Calif., to Beulah (Boyd) Wells and the late Charlie B. Payne. He was employed as a security guard at George’s Processing in Butterfield, a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Monett and retired from the United States Air Force, where he served his country in Korea.
