LAMAR-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home for Dorothy Marie Atkisson, 84, Lamar, who died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Truman Healthcare Center. Mike Tunnell will officiate. Burial will be at Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, James Atkisson and wife Kathy, Lamar; a daughter, Nancy Blanchard and husband Kyle, Lamar; two grandchildren, Kyla Miles and husband Scott, Willard and Justin Blanchard and wife Brittany, Lamar; three great-grandchildren, Layla Blanchard, Tevis Blanchard and Hayden Miles and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Carl Dean Atkisson in 1954; two brothers, Coy Brison as an infant and Hoyt Brison in 1998 and two sisters, Onita Brison as an infant and Thelma Bowling in 1973.
Mrs. Atkisson was born March 24, 1930, at Swaine, Ark., to James Robert and Elma (Hatcher) Brison. She worked for Smith Brothers Manufacturing from 1965 to 1978 and for O’Sullivan Industries from 1978 to 1992. She loved quilting, gardening and being a farm wife. She was an admirer of livestock and was faithful to decorate family graves in Arkansas.
She married Tevis James Atkisson on June 27, 1953. He died in 2002.
