LAMAR- A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery for Mary Elizabeth (Gilden) Jones, 95, Lamar, who died Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lamar.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Cookson Hills Christian School, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, Mike Jones and wife Terri; two daughters, LaWalta Johnston and husband Terry and Willa Mae Owen, all of Lamar; eight grandchildren; Dana Evans and husband Jason, Deana LeGrand, Terry Don Jr. Johnston and wife Kim, Amanda Jones, Kimberley Gastel, Michael Jones, Randy Schlichting and Matt Francisco and Dusty Schlichting, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, five sisters, one grandson and one son-in-law.

Mrs. Jones was born April 9, 1925, to James W. Gilden and Mildred C. (Davis) Gilden in Garden Springs. She married William H. “Bill” Jones on October 18, 1942 and together they had three children.

She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a long time member of the Milford Christian Church. Mary loved cooking, gardening (sharing her produce) and canning. She also liked to do embroidery work on long winter days.
