GENE “SPANKY” HAGINS

LAMAR- Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniel Funeral Home for Milton Eugene Hagins, 62, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. will A visitation follow the service. A private family burial will be held at Greenfield Cemetery in Jerico Springs.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Beverly; one son, Jonathan Lee Hagins and wife Kimberlee, Lamar; one daughter, Amanda Lou Blanchard and husband Josh, Lamar; one brother, Lonnie Hagins and wife Pat, Cassville; one sister, Linda Lou Hagins, Lamar; brothers and sisters in law, Linda Arlene Hagins, Carthage, John Rea, Nowata, Okla., Lavinia Rea, Weir, Kan., Darrell Rea and wife Kim, Lamar, Charlette and husband Wayne, Lamar, Peggy Blanchard and husband Richard, Lamar, David Rea and wife Betty, Nowata, Okla.; six grandchildren, Auri Blanchard, Shadol Blanchard, Kayne Blanchard, Malia Blanchard, Taralee Hagins and Grayson Hagins and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry Bryant Hagins and Linville Lee Hagins.

Mr. Hagins was born July 4, 1958, in Lamar, to Linville Bryant and Mary Ethel (Robinson) Hagins. He graduated from Lockwood High School in the class of 1977. He married Beverly Jo Rea on June 15, 1979, at Forest Grove Baptist Church, in Lamar.

He worked for Thorco Industries for 40 years and had worked at Stanley Milling for the past three years. He also owned and operated Gene's Lawn Care Service for eight years, which included servicing and repairing other people's lawnmowers and weed eaters. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan of baseball and basketball, but his passion was football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs. He always looked forward to deer season, so he could spend special time with family.

He helped with anything and everything at the First Christian Church, which included helping his wife with the three to five-year-old children in the Bible Bees Class.
