LOCKWOOD- Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church for Doris Marie (Lampe) Schnelle, 93, Lockwood, who died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Meinert.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Family Life Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Survivors include her two daughters, Carol Finck and husband David, Washington, Mo. and Diane Black and husband Greg, Buffalo; three sons, Dale Schnelle and wife Melody, Overland Park, Kan., Merle Schnelle and wife Amy, Lockwood and Jerry Schnelle and wife Tina, Golden City; one sister, Grace Doss and husband Gilbert, Freistatt; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Lampe, St. Louis and Jean Schnelle, Lockwood; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melbert; a grandson, Troy Schnelle; her brothers, Norman and Elfred Lampe; a sister-in-law, Mary Lampe; a brother-in-law, Harold Schnelle and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schnelle.

Mrs. Schnelle was born Jan. 16, 1928 to Rudolph and Edna Lampe on a dairy farm near Freistatt. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and confirmed her Christian faith on March 29, 1942. She and her brother and sister grew up milking cows by hand. She was a 1946 graduate of Verona High School and worked as a secretary for the L.A. Woods Agency of the Ohio National Life Insurance Company in Springfield from 1946 to 1952.

She married Melbert Lee Schnelle of Lockwood on June 8, 1952. They shared 61 wonderful years together working on their farm. God blessed their marriage with five children.

Mrs. Schnelle was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for family and friends and trying out new recipes. For 20 years she volunteered as Foods Leader in 4-H. She also loved being outside, mowing the yard with her John Deere tractor and growing flowers.

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. As a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, she was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Braille Workers.
