CARTHAGE- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ulmer Funeral Home for Lois Ilene Rush, 83, who died Monday, Jan. 23, with family by her side, after a short illness. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Webb City Genealogical Society, in her memory, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Norman; two daughters, Diane Pollard and husband Kenny, Carthage and Cheryl Lown, Carthage; one son, Jeff Rush, Joplin; three sisters, Fern Goodenough, Carl Junction, Mary Ann Simmons and husband Gary, Alba and Patty Baker and husband Wayne, Carl Junction; five grandchildren, Nicholaus Rush, Ryan Rush, Travis Neel, Hayley Lown and Kasie Holly and five great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Carisma, Kasey, Jessica and Charity.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Rush was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Golden City, to Harry and Marjorie Hurrell. She was a resident of Carthage and a 1958 graduate of Golden City High School. She married the love of her life, Norman Rush, on Oct. 4, 1958, in Golden City. She was the family historian and loved doing family history. She volunteered at Webb City Genealogical Society and enjoyed cooking and going on family trips. She loved spending time with her family and going to family reunions.
