Liberal 2020 graduation follows social distancing guidelines

In a poignant and creative ceremony Friday, May 15, the Liberal High School Class of 2020 received their diplomas. Parents and family members were able to drive up and watch their student receive the diploma. It has been a strange year indeed for students of the Liberal R-2 district with the fire that claimed the old high school, shutting down classes for an extended period in the fall and now the suspension of classes due to COVID-19 containment measures. And yet, through it all, the Class of 2020 has maintained a positive attitude and was rewarded for their hard work in the form of the ceremony and the parade through town that followed.

Students of the week
Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. She plans on playing volleyball or basketball next year. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Reading, because both teachers make it a lot of fun while they teach.
