The Class 3, No. 3 rated Seneca Indians came into Lamar and upended the Class 2, No.1 rated Tigers by a score of 28-14. The Indians improved to 4-0, while the Tigers dropped to 3-1 overall. The Tigers defense rose to the occasion once again as they didn't allow the Cubs to get anything going on offense. The Tigers starting defense has allowed only six points in the first three games. Sophomore quarterback No. 16 Trent Torbeck hands the ball to No. 12 junior Carson Sturgell for good yardage in the Tigers 40-7 victory over Big 8 West opponent Monett Cubs. Filling in for injured Alex Wilkerson, Torbeck did a good job in his first varsity start, running for about 130 yards. The Tigers will host Seneca Friday evening in a game that could decide the Big 8 West championship. The Tigers are rated No. 1 in Class 2, while the Indians are rated No. 3 in Class 3.
