JASPER- A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Mitchell Cemetery for Clarence Sherman Stump, 87, Jasper, who died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

The body will lie in state for people to pay their respects and sign the book from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper.

COVID-19 regulations will be observed at all times.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mitchell Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Leota Stump; three sons, Larry Stump and wife Cheryl, David Stump and wife Becky and Carl Stump and wife Annette; two daughters, Janet Stafford and husband Gary and Judy Ray and husband Bob; two brothers, Delbert Stump and Chester Stump; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Stump and Lester Stump.

Mr. Stump was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Aldrich, to Levi and Gladys (Harper) Stump. He was a dairy farmer and a retired rural carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was an Army veteran, a lifetime member of the Jasper VFW Post 6415, a Gideon, was involved with the Big Brothers & Sisters organization, coached many youth sports teams and was a deacon of Zion Baptist Church, where he was a member.

He married Leota Stevenson on Oct. 30, 1955.
