Participants in the 2021 Lamar West Elementary Spelling Bee were Brynlee Parish, Brady Reaves, Ansley Jeffries, Sammi Overstreet, Laken Perez, Addyson Reed, Jaxon Dixon, Dia Nowak, Hannidy Marti, Waylon Nolting, Aidan Edwards, Clayton Powell, Brock Chappel, Makinley Miller, Crislyn Dixon and Saydee Palmer.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger On Friday afternoon, May 23, a variety of City of Lamar employees gathered at the Thiebaud meeting room to receive a small token of appreciation that included root beer floats. According to Lamar City Clerk Felicia Costley, the City wanted to give something to the men and women of the city who pulled together to assess the damage after the storm on Easter. Costley said, “Then they worked nonstop for several days to get things up and running again”, commenting, “The teamwork was phenomenal!”

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Lamar High School state qualifying students left the high school at about 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, as they earned the right to participate in the State Track and Field meet to be held in Jefferson City. Following group pictures, the students and coaches loaded up on the bus and they were escorted out of town by Lamar Police Officer Mitchell Shaw.
