HERBERT WARING

LIBERAL- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar for Herbert Lee Waring, 89, Liberal, who died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.

The family will receive visitors prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Survivors include his wife Kay; children, Herbert Waring Jr., Joplin, Wayne Waring, Liberal, Julie Parker and husband Scott, Lamar, Tuesday Dunn, Tulsa, Okla., Robert Fearnow and wife Kristen. Nevada, Mo., Steven Fearnow and wife Debbie, Lockwood and Teresa Baumann and husband Mike, Pittsburg, Kan.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Elsie Cada, Pueblo, Colo., Elena Dodson, Las Animas, Colo., Linda Overall, Sands Spring, Okla., Jack Waring, Las Animas, Colo. and Bob Roy, Tulsa, Okla. and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by a brother, an infant daughter and a great-granddaughter.

Mr. Waring was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Oskaloosa, to Ray and Nancy (Watson) Waring. He went to school through the seventh grade and then he, his brother and father followed the harvest, jumping trains to get to the next town. He married Marcia Kay Ford/Fearnow on Jan. 1, 1975, in Golden City.

He worked for 30 years as a set-up man in the wood shop at O’Sullivan’s and retired in 1994. He went on to build a house with his son. He remodeled many houses, wallpapered and did sheet rock work.

Mr. Waring was a quiet man who enjoyed the simple life. He enjoyed going on drives in the country. His favorite place to be was in the yard, trimming grass and taking care of his flower beds. He enjoyed it so much that he even worked in his daughter’s yard when they visited her in Tulsa, Okla. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominos when he was winning.
