LIBERAL- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Iantha Cemetery for Neal Lee Smith, 65, Liberal, who died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, peacefully at his home, following a two year battle with cancer.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Andra; one daughter, Amber Rabel and husband Jared, Webb City; one son, Zach Smith and wife Ashley, Lamar; three step-daughters, Beth Roush and husband David, Joplin, Mandie Port and husband Jamie, Lakewood, Colo. and Summer Stelk, Marysville, Kan.; four grandchildren, Brynlee, Hadlee, Tucker and Spencer; seven step-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Chase, Draden, Eagon, Telesha, Adilee and Caleb; four step great-grandchildren, Kashton, Kiylan, Kesden and baby Brooks, along with numerous cousins and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, James; his grandparents, Edmond and Anna Smith and Henry and Emma Phipps, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Mr. Smith was born Sept. 4, 1955, in Lamar, to Ellis and Marie (Phipps) Smith. He married Andra Rezzer on May 1, 2020, in Nashville, Mo.

He worked as an insurance agent at Lamar Insurance Center and was also a crop and cattle farmer. He attended Nashville Christian Church and was a member of Lamar Rotary, Lamar Masonic Lodge No. 292, Abou Ben Adhem Shriners, Carthage Shriners Burn Crew, Barton County Shriners and Joplin Scottish Rite. He also served as Lamar public administrator for four years. He was a very loving, caring and bright man that always had a smile that lit up the room. He had a huge heart and enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
