High school athletes prepare for upcoming football year

Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow Area high school athletes are hard at work preparing for the upcoming year. Lockwood has been hosting 8-man teams for 5-on-5 sessions on Wednesday nights. Lockwood's Logan Wells catches a pass as Greenfield's Austin Pickett closes in.

Lamar Tigers dominate Jasper
The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State. Sixth grade girls earn Kansas State Championship
Lockwood High School cheerleaders Kalsee Garoutte, Rachel Baugh and Mekenzi Weimer recently received Academic All-State honors. To receive Academic All-State for cheer, one must be a varsity cheerleader, have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5, be in the top 20 percent of their class and be a current senior, junior or sophomore.
