LHS Class of 1972 gathers for 50th reunion

Members of the Lamar High School Class of 1972 gathered at the Thiebaud Auditorium on Saturday, July 30, to share laughter and memories. Mike Davis served as emcee. The program consisted of fun, nostalgic games. All classmates had a chance to share highlights of their life. A delicious brisket meal was catered by Nolting's Catering. The evening was filled with love and gratitude for a life once shared together; a life that influenced what those in the became and who they are today. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The Barton County Community Foundation featured Vintage Vegas on Saturday evening, April 13, at Thiebaud Auditorium in Lamar. During the festivities, Elaine Davis, left, president of Lamar Community Betterment, was awarded $1M from a private charitable fund, in order to purchase the old Redneck building at 1705 Gulf. The building will be used jointly by the newly formed Lamar YMCA and the Lamar R-1 School. Watch for more information in the April 24 edition of the Democrat. BCCF board member Nancy Curless, right, presented Davis with the check, along with a $5,000 check from the foundation.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church stepped outside of its walls on Sunday morning, as members of the congregation, along with others from the community, gathered at the Wyatt Earp Park in order to worship the Lord. Music sheets were handed out to those attending, with the church’s worship leader Steve Livingston and the Praise Band from the church leading in the music. Dr. Robert Hodson, senior pastor at the church, shared the sermon. According to Ron Sandberg and Ed Patterson, a total of 198 were in attendance on this beautiful day.
