The first three of the seven planned monuments arrived at the Barton County Memorial Park on Tuesday morning, Aug. 2. These black granite monuments are triangular in shape and will feature the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Global War on Terror. A seventh monument will be erected that will feature the Barton County Memorial Hospital and the formation of the park. It was an extremely hot job as these dedicated workers from West Chestnut Monuments in Carthage unloaded the first three monuments off the crane, moving and securing them in their designated place. The park is located at the corner of 2nd and Gulf in Lamar and all are encouraged to stop by and see the amazing transformation that is taking place.
