The Barton County Chamber of Commerce introduced an oldie but goodie this past Thursday, Nov. 22, as they held a Lamar Downtown Lighting Celebration. Individuals gathered at the Barton County Courthouse bandstand, where Santa, chamber CEO Astra Ferris and Lamar City Mayor Mike Hull kicked off the countdown to the lights being turned on around the square, at both businesses and the courthouse. Extended shopping hours were enjoyed by those attending at the many businesses around the square and around town, while Santa visited Heavenly Daylight Donuts following the lights being turned on, for little ones to visit with him and have their pictures taken. A long line flowed out the door of the donut shop as many stood patiently in line, awaiting their child’s chance to sit on Santa’s lap. The chamber sponsored Lighted Christmas Parade is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, so be sure to mark your calendars. They hope to see you there.
