LHS junior class visits Jefferson City

Members of the Lamar High School junior class visited Jefferson City on Thursday, Nov. 10. While there, they toured the Missouri State Penitentiary, State Capitol, the Missouri Supreme Court and the Missouri State Patrol Headquarters Museum. State Representative Ann Kelley and her assistant, Johanna Henry, gave the group a personalized tour of the capitol, making it a great day for the students involved. This trip was in conjunction with their history lessons that they have been studying.

Shiloh Wilkinson, daughter of TJ and Melissa Wilkinson, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Shiloh enjoys drawing and reading in her spare time. She plans on playing volleyball or basketball next year. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Reading, because both teachers make it a lot of fun while they teach.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley.
