LAMAR- A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar for Lois Elaine Walters, 87, a longtime Jasper resident and current resident at Truman Health and Rehab in Lamar, who died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to assist with final expenses.

Survivors include two sons, Leland Walters, Kimberling City and David Walters, Lamar; grandchildren, Moriah Cruse and husband Corey, Lamar and David Walters and wife Allison, Jasper; six great-grandchildren, Eden, Parker and Ivy Cruse, Lamar and Addey, Myrah, DJ and baby Emori (due June 2023) Walters, Jasper; a sister, Sandy McInteer and husband Jack, Lawrence, Kan. and a brother, Jim Barritt, Anaheim Hills, Calif. and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Kevin Walters; brothers, Larry and Randy Barritt and a sister-in-law, Jo Barritt.

Mrs. Walters was born Sept. 30, 1935, in Cedar County, to Lois (Bridger) and Lawrence Barritt. She was the oldest of five children. She was a 1954 graduate of El Dorado Springs High School. She met Charles Walters at the Nevada City Park, where both of their sons from previous marriages were playing. They married on Sept. 5, 1964 and remained married 55 years until his death in 2020.

Mrs. Walters resided at Truman for six years due to a cerebral aneurysm that caused Alzheimer’s and dementia.

She was a loving wife and mother, raised three boys and was a homemaker her entire life. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, was a talented singer and an avid country music fan for her entire life.
