The Liberal R-2 Board of Education recently voted to honor retiring superintendent Bill Harvey by naming the high school basketball court in his honor. He has served the district for over 20 years as superintendent and is an alum of LHS. Prior to becoming superintendent in July of 2000, Harvey was the high school principal. Before becoming an administrator, he was a teacher and a coach. During homecoming festivities last week, Harvey was presented with a plaque made from a section of the gym floor salvaged after the old high school burned a few years ago. He is pictured with several members of his family (from left) Casey Wiss, Brooke Wiss, Mike Harvey, Bill's daughter Miranda Harvey, Bill, his wife Bobbi, daughter-in-law Darby, son Trevor, Carol Barr and Pat Barr. Harvey, who was unaware the presentation was going to take place, received a standing ovation from the large and appreciative homecoming crowd.
