She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Lyden; a sister, Delores Gross and a brother, Jerry Mallory.

Mrs. Beck was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Ft. Scott, Kan., to Clyde and Ruth (Rouse) Mallory. She attended school in Pittsburg, Kan. and graduated in 1956. She married Lester Lyden in 1956 and was a homemaker and preacher’s wife in Pittsburg and Lawton, Kan. They divorced after 14 years of marriage.

She spent many years as a bookkeeper and retired from O’Sullivan Industries. After retirement she worked for Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan Shop. She enjoyed traveling, going to car shows and auctions with her long-time companion of 40 years, Howard Alger. She was known for her amazing French cookies that she made and gave away during the holiday each year to friends and family.

She loved her family and they loved her. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews have many stories they tell with smiles, of popcorn, Daylight Donuts, McDonald’s breakfasts and of joyful memories of a very large camcorder that they made many goofy videos with. She also loved her Cornerstone Church family and her neighbor and friend Beth, who she prayed with each morning.
