Members of the VFW Post 3691 were on hand to provide a moving Memorial Day service that was held Monday morning, May 29, at the Barton County Memorial Park in Lamar. VFW Post Commander Matt Pettibon started off by explaining the history of the Memorial Day service and noted that the day was to honor those who had died for their country in order to protect freedoms that so many take for granted. The park was a splendid setting with plenty of shade for spectators, as well as offering a backdrop of the war memorials and nurse’s pavilion. Many took the opportunity before and after the ceremony to view what the park has to offer.
