ARKANSAS CITY, Kan.- Graveside services will be held at 11 am. Friday at the Springside Cemetery in Arkansas City for Helen Jean O’Connor, 85, Arkansas City, who died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at her residence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory of Arkansas City.

A memorial has been established with Angels Care Hospice, with contributions to be made in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughters, Lori Weakley and Mike Weakley, Clearwater, Denzil “Paco” Swanson and husband Arkie and Teri Metcalf and husband Patrick, all of Arkansas City and Jeri Gregory and Joe Naputi, Wichita; grandchildren, DJ Dowler, Jessica Dowler, Garrett Swanson, Markie Swanson, Megan Lambert, Jessica Swanson, Karli Metcalf, Mace Metcalf, Dylan Gregor, Sydney Gregor, Olive Naputi and Ariel Naputi; 14 great-grandchildren and a multitude of grand fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, niece and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. O’Connor was born March 30, 1938, to William McCormack and Helen M. (Koscuizko) in Girard. She married Marvin Kenneth O’Connor on July 29, 1961, in Miami, Okla. The couple lived in various places until settling in Arkansas City in 1971. She worked for the Veteran’s Hospital, Arkansas City Memorial Hospital and lastly Arkansas City High School until retiring.
