Fifth grade Tigers top Joplin Blue

The Lamar fifth grade Tigers traveled to Joplin on Saturday, Sept. 16, to face the fifth grade Joplin Blue team, with Lamar coming out ahead 14-0. Players and coaches in the group photo are, back row, left to right, Coaches Anthony Jones, Scott Brown, Ben Garfield, Chuck Wolfe and Zach McCulley; middle row, left to right, Devon Mitchell, Brennon Scheetz, Bay Walters, Trevon Forst, Owen Blanchard, Cash Brown, Chase Brown, Ayden Jones, Mac McCulley and front row, left to right, Bryceton Sipes, Keaton Wolf, Tyler Miller, Creed Robison and Lucas Garfield. The youth football players were invited to the Friday night, Sept. 15 home varsity game against Seneca. Players, coaches and cheerleaders got into the game free and prior to the game they participated in greeting the players as they entered the stadium. All youth coaches were also invited to be honorary captains for the game. The third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade Tigers will play at home on Saturday, Sept. 30, as well as Saturday, Oct. 7. They would love to have you come out and cheer them on.

Alyssa Mitchell, an incoming junior at Lamar High School who is a member of the Tiger tennis team, recently placed second in singles in the Lebanon Tournament. She played in four matches that included players from Lebanon, Republic, Branson, Waynesville and Springfield. Alyssa’s parents are Joanna Moore and Ron Delrosario, Lamar. Ron began Alyssa’s tennis career at the age of 10 and has dedicated many years to help her get to where she currently is.

Drone photo by Joe Davis A capacity crowd at the Barco Drive-In was a site to behold on Friday night, July 19. According to Scott Kelley, theatre manager, sales are cut off at 310 cars and unfortunately some had to be turned away. No fears though as Twisters A Quiet Place, rated PG-13, will be playing at the drive-in every night through Thursday, July 25. An interesting note – The original Twisters movie that was released in 1996 proved to be a sell out as well.
