Mrs. Jones was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Barton County, to Thomas B. Taffner and Florence A. (Keltner) Taffner. She retired in 2019 after 55 years as owner/operator of Judy’s Cafe and Truck Stop in Jasper. Her love for the business began when she worked there while attending Jasper High School. She operated the 24/7 business with a smile, making everyone feel welcome. Three generations of multiple families worked for her. Her friendliness and generosity did not stop with the business. She was very involved in community and school activities. She enjoyed helping others and everybody loved her.
She and former spouse, Mack A. Carter, had three children, Kay Carter of Jasper, Dale Carter of Lamar and Doug Carter of Diamond.
July 25, 1970, she married Carl J. Jones (deceased) and had a blended family with his children, Carolyn Dye, Debbie Nelson, Ronnie Jones, Carl Joe Jones, Carla Kay Schreiber and Bobby Jones. Later, the couple had the pleasure to raise granddaughters, Jenica Carter-Rush of Frisco, Texas and Jessica Carter of Jasper.
She loved her grandchildren and adored her ever increasing number of great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jones; her parents, one brother and one grandson.
