Picnic in the Park begins 2024 season

Lamar Democrat/Nadine Pattison Picnic in the Park began their season on Thursday, March 28, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Lamar City Park. Trucks included Flounder’s, The Driveway Diner BBQ, Hershey’s Mobile Ice Cream Parlor, Red’s House BBQ, Ghetto Tacos, W.H. Farm Cafe Feed Wagon, Haile Yeah BBQ and Kona Ice of Joplin. DJ Pepper furnished music at lunch time, with The Aeroes, featuring Quintin Webb, playing live music from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The next Picnic in the Park is set for Thursday, April 25. Lamar Democrat/Nadine Pattison Picnic in the Park drew several despite the rainy and stormy weather that was experienced throughout the day. Several food trucks were available to offer a wide variety of choices to those stopping by to dine. Menus from the various food trucks were listed on the Lamar City Park facebook page, along with their phone number to call for easy access. The next Picnic in the Park will be held Thursday, May 23, for both lunch and dinner, at the Lamar City Park.

The junior class at Lamar High School hosted Senior Prom 2024. The event was held Saturday, April 20, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 96 Elite in Oronogo. Prior to the event, family and friends gathered to support their students as they showed off a vide variety of prom wear at the Promenade, held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Wyatt Earp Park in Lamar.
