LAMAR- A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Daniel Funeral Home for James “Jim” William Felts, 71, Lamar, who died Monday, April 8, 2024, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lamar. A private family burial will be held.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to TATS, Barton County Senior Citizens Center or Gentiva Hospice, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his daughter Stephanie Martin and husband Mike, Lamar; his mother, Wanda; a brother, Gary Felts, Fort Walton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Blake Felts, Omaha, Neb., Brandon Martin, Lamar; Chelsey Geyer and husband Sam, Lowell, Ark. and Cody Martin, Rogers, Ark. and a great- granddaughter, Maggie Geyer, Lowell, Ark. Over the years, his daughter Stephanie and her family have hosted many foreign exchange students whom he "adopted" as his grandchildren, Giorgi Meskhi of Republic of Georgia; Alvaro Sanchez-Martin of Spain; Adrian Schnellbacher of Germany; Noppawit Wanasirikun of Thailand; Alessio Castangia of Italy and Bojan Blazeski of North Macedonia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Butler.

Mr. Felts was born July 5, 1952, in Lamar, to Butler James Felts and Wanda Gay (Fowler) Felts. He was a 1970 graduate of Lamar High School.

He worked as a residence inspector for Finley Engineering for 42 years, Barco Drive-in for 41 years, Barton County Hospital for 20 years and Barton County Ambulance for 20 years. He was a Charter Member of the Elks Lodge, served on the Barton County Chamber Board for 20 years, serving as president twice and was awarded Man of the Year.
