LAMAR- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Daniel Funeral Home, for Velma Marie (Loewe) Crockett, 91, Lamar, who died Sunday, April 4, 2024, at Truman Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Lamar. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Lamar.

The family will receive visitors prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made payable to Hopewell CPW for Camp Scholarships, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Darrel Crockett and wife Judy, Lamar and Don Crockett and wife Wendy, Houston, Mo.; two daughters, Marilyn Holloway and husband Andy, Woodville, Texas and Marla Shepherd and husband David, Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Blake Crockett and wife Lori, Brad Crockett and wife Jeni, Jacina Crockett, Aubrey Crockett, Michael Holloway and wife Hope, Casey Holloway, Shabri Parker and husband Zach, Kira Birdsong and husband Logan, Kylan Holloway, Joel Shepherd and Brooke Clement and husband Keagan; nine great-grandchildren (with another due this summer) and two sisters, Nadine Mayfield and Wilma Braker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; one grandson, Barry Crockett; one brother, Eugene Loewe and three sisters, Irene Westbay, Edna Mae Mayfield and Betty Gilmartin.

Mrs. Crockett was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Barton County, to Paul and Ethel (Smith) Loewe. She was a 1950 graduate of Sheldon High School. She married Bobby L. Crockett on Aug. 11, 1956. Their 53 years of marriage included 50 years on the family farm. In addition to being a farm wife, she worked a variety of jobs including teachers aide in special ed classes. She also enjoyed hummingbirds, clogging, water aerobics, sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening and working the elections.

She was a member of Hopewell CP Church, including CPW, Sunday School and VBS teacher.
