American flag retirement drop box donated by Elks Lodge

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Thanks to a generous donation by members of the Lamar Elks Lodge 2800 of an American flag retirement drop box, individuals may now drop off their old American flags to be disposed of properly. The flag drop box is located inside the lobby at the Barton County Memorial Park office building, located on the corner of 2nd and Broadway, in Lamar and flags may be dropped off 24/7. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Dr. Brian A. Reavley, DDS and members of his staff at Reavley Dental recently helped fit members of the Lamar High School football team with mouth guards. Megan Reavley was in charge of pouring up the impressions, while Laney Bayless, RDA and Kailey Johnson made the impressions. A total of 30 were seen on Thursday, June 20. The Barton County Library Summer Reading Program is in full swing, with Wonders of Wildlife Museum in Springfield and Jay and Leslie with Laughing Matters presenting programs at both the library and the local summer school. The week of June 17, Smokey the Bear visited Lamar, Golden City and Liberal. Alyssa Mitchell, an incoming junior at Lamar High School who is a member of the Tiger tennis team, recently placed second in singles in the Lebanon Tournament. She played in four matches that included players from Lebanon, Republic, Branson, Waynesville and Springfield. Alyssa’s parents are Joanna Moore and Ron Delrosario, Lamar. Ron began Alyssa’s tennis career at the age of 10 and has dedicated many years to help her get to where she currently is.
