LAMAR- A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Lamar Family Ministries Center in Lamar for Thomas Bruce Magruder, 67, Lamar, who died Friday, June 14, 2024, after a long convalescence.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Lamar Family Ministries Center, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha; two sons, Shaun and wife Jolee Magruder, Seattle, Wash. and Tyler Magruder, Jefferson City; one daughter, Sarah Magruder, Phoenix, Ariz. and two sisters, Valerie Chapple and husband Phil, Rolla and Marcey Moutray, Branson, along with many cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his stepfather, Otho Moutray.

Mr. Magruder was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Rolla, to Thomas Magruder and Marjorie (Baysinger) Magruder. He was a 1974 graduate of Rolla High School and following graduation he went directly to the Marine Corps, following a family tradition. After his separation from the Corps, he married Robin Kay and they had three children.

He worked for Union Pacific railroad repairing track and then worked multiple temporary jobs before retiring on disability.

He married Marsha Ann Doyle on Dec. 24, 2005, in Lamar, where they are active members of Lamar Family Ministries Center.
