First Baptist Church treats community to evening of fun

The First Baptist Church, located at 1301 E. 6th St., in Lamar, held its 7th annual Faith, Family & Fireworks beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3. The evening started off with free hot dogs, chips and bottled water to those attending the celebration, as well as a car and truck show that was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bingo was played in the FLOC building at 6:30 p.m., followed by the community worship band that performed from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Also included was Pastor Dr. Robb Hodson bringing a message, using the popular verse, John 3:16. Also available was face painting, numerous bouncy houses and pony and wagon rides. Also available to those attending was Jack’s Ice Cream, The Shiver Shack and The Nutty Bavarian. The evening was free as an outreach ministry to the community. The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m. Fireworks pictures from both the First Baptist Church and Truman Healthcare will be featured in the July 17 edition of the Lamar Democrat.
