First Baptist Church treats community to evening of fun

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church, located at 1301 E. 6th St., in Lamar, held its 7th annual Faith, Family & Fireworks beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3. The evening started off with free hot dogs, chips and bottled water to those attending the celebration, as well as a car and truck show that was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bingo was played in the FLOC building at 6:30 p.m., followed by the community worship band that performed from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Also included was Pastor Dr. Robb Hodson bringing a message, using the popular verse, John 3:16. Also available was face painting, numerous bouncy houses and pony and wagon rides. Also available to those attending was Jack’s Ice Cream, The Shiver Shack and The Nutty Bavarian. The evening was free as an outreach ministry to the community. The evening concluded with a spectacular fireworks show at 9 p.m. Fireworks pictures from both the First Baptist Church and Truman Healthcare will be featured in the July 17 edition of the Lamar Democrat.

Many were on hand to enjoy this special event that was put together by the Barton County Chamber of Commerce, the Lamar Fair and The Stompin’ Grounds. A lot of interaction occurred throughout the evening and both entertainers gave first rate performances.

Drone photo by Joe Davis The Clay Walker and Tate Stevens concert that took place the Saturday evening of the Lamar Free Fair, on August 24, was deemed a rousing success. This was a joint endeavor between The Stompin’ Grounds, the Barton County Chamber of Commerce and the Lamar Free Fair. The concert was held at the Wyatt Earp Park and featured reserved seating, as well as bleacher seats. Be sure to watch the September 4 edition for pictures of this fun and entertaining event.
