Picnic in the Park features wide variety

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Several took the opportunity to visit the many food trucks that were set up for Picnic in the Park on Thursday, July 25, at the Lamar City Park. Anything from Chinese, barbecue, hamburgers, lemonade, specialty drinks and sweet treats could be found. Picnic in the Park will be taking a hiatus in August, due to the Lamar Fair, but be sure to watch for their return on Thursday, Sept. 26. The trucks are available for both lunch and dinnertime.

The Barton County Retired Educators met Tuesday, Sept. 3, for their first regular meeting of the new school year. Betsy Ulrich, preschool specialist, center, was presented a Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation grant for her preschool classroom. Metzger’s Mutterings
London Doody, daughter of Levi Doody and Tracy Read, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Things she enjoys are riding dirt bikes, hunting and fishing. She has one dog, six chickens and four cats. She likes to play out in the yard. At school she likes PE and Reading. London says God, family, animals and hanging out with friends are important to her.
