LIBERAL- A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Daniel Funeral Home, for Charles Clinton Sorenson, 85, Liberal, who died Sunday, July 28, 2024, at St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage. Burial will follow in Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Mindenmines Christian Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Dermott and husband Joel, Liberal; one son, Charles Sorenson and wife Doris, Joplin; four grandchildren, Amanda Davison and husband Dustin, Liberal, Sara Watson and Lindsey, Greenfield, Tucker Dermott and wife Jess, Wheaton and Jacob Dermott, Joplin; seven great-grandchildren, Rowdy Davison, Kyle Watson, Riley Watson, Ava Lombard, Carter Lombard, Hazel Dermott and Hadley Dermott.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Sorenson and his grandson, Everett Vance.

Mr. Sorenson was born August 5, 1938, in Liberal, to Ralph Sorenson and Violet (King) Sorenson. He married Nancy Ann Essex on Oct. 24, 1959, in Liberal.

He served the country as an acquisition radar operator in the D Battery, 5th Missile Battalion-55th Artillery of the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. from 1961 to 1964.

Mr. Sorenson was a farmer and lifelong resident of Liberal. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in various sporting events over the years. He was a member of the Mindenmines Christian Church.
