Peterson Outdoors Ministries celebrated 18 years of ministry at their annual banquet and fundraiser held Saturday evening, Aug. 10, at the Twin Groves Event Center in Webb City. A large crowd of close to 300 was in attendance to celebrate this amazing ministry. Throughout the evening Tron Peterson received donations by the Jimmy Fortner Trust and Whitetail Properties, as well as receiving the “Best of the 4 States” award for a charitable organization. The evening concluded with an auction provided by Reuben Schrock and his auctioneering team.

The Barton County Retired Educators met Tuesday, Sept. 3, for their first regular meeting of the new school year. Betsy Ulrich, preschool specialist, center, was presented a Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation grant for her preschool classroom. Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow The Lockwood Tigers put up a heck of a fight against the defending state champion Archie Whirlwinds in the season opener. Unfortunately for the large contingent of Tigers fans who came out for opening night, Lockwood dropped the contest 48-38. Here senior Nik Thieman busts off a 71 yard touchdown run to put the Tigers up 16-0 in the first quarter. The Tigers bounced back in Week 2 with a 62-24 win over Drexel.
