GOLDEN CITY- A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the IOOF Cemetery in Golden City for William J. “Billy” Farmer, Jr., 87, Golden City, who died Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at his home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Weng FuneralChapel.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; one son, Jess Farmer; one daughter, Beth Press and two grandchildren, Drew and Elizabeth.
Mr. Farmer was born Aug. 10,1037, in Lamar, to William J. and Nina (Hill) Farmer. He spent the first 18 years of his life in Golden City helping his Dad farm. He graduated in 1955 from Golden City High School. After high school he worked in Kansas City, then moved to Peoria, Ill., where he owned and operated an auto parts and paint store for 25 years. In 1993 he sold the store and moved back to GoldenCity, where he farmed and raised cattle with his son until he retired in 2013.
He was a member of the Golden City Baptist Church.
