PEGGY ROSE FORSTE
October 22, 2024
Though our hearts are broken, we have found joy in knowing that our mother, Peggy, has joined her soulmate and is at peace.
Peggy Rose (Helmer) Forste was born March 20, 1935, in Worland, Wyoming to Richard and Virginia (Flanders) Helmer. She left this earth on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, Missouri. She was 89 years and 7 months.
Peggy grew up and graduated high school in the Kansas City area, where she met the love of her life and later married William "Bill" Forste on August 13, 1954. Out of this union came five children, David, Clifton, Melonie, Linda, and Fred. They moved to Dudenville in March of 1966 where they raised their family.
Peggy was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Bill's business. She enjoyed ceramics and made many gifts for the kids at school as she was always the room mother. She sold Avon for several years. She enjoyed big gardens and canned most of the food. She loved jewelry and making Christmas candy. Peggy loved going out on the boat and spent many weekends at the lake.
Bill and Peggy later bought a house in Golden City where they retired. She loved living in town because one of her favorite things was handing out candy at Halloween and she had more trick or treaters in town. All the kids, big and small came to her house because she had the best candy and lots of knick knacks to give out.
After her children were raised, Peggy attended school and became a certified tax preparer. She worked at H&R Block for 25 years, beginning her career in Lamar but most of her time was spent in Greenfield.
Peggy later moved to Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood, where she enriched many lives, from aids to nurses, staff, roommates, and visitors. She loved her card games, going to church services and she never missed a bible study. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and acceptance. She had a profound effect on many lives and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children, David (Debbie) Forste, Clifton (Kay) Forste, Linda Webb, all of Golden City and Rick Rice of Lamar; 13 grandchildren, Mandi, Adam, Gabe, Ronda, Rochelle, Andrew, William, Tonya, Matt, Nikki, Ashley, Aarron and Sarah; 36 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Delane Lange of St. Louis, MO; 3 sisters-in-law, Pat, Pauline and Leta and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bill; children, Mel, Fred, and Nelson; brother, Richard Helmer; one great-grandchild, Kelsey Markley and one great-great grandchild, Chandler Freeman.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hackney Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested and made payable to Good Shepherd Nursing Home in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
