Delilah McKenzie, daughter of David and Courtney McKenzie, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. She likes to play basketball, her favorite subject is math and she loves dogs. Delilah’s pets are really important to her.

Instructor Ryan Dickens, along with members of the Lamar Career and Technical Center Robotics class. started off the Wednesday, Oct. 16 meeting of the Lamar R-1 School Board as they explained and gave demonstrations on their hands-on work being done within their class.

Krystal Roby, a math instructor at Lamar High School, was recently recognized by Arvest Bank’s We Love Teachers” campaign. Thanks to this award, Roby will be able to add even more real-life projects to her life skills math class. Arvest Bank is proud to recognize Mrs. Roby, as her hard work makes a difference to students every day. Alexis Remillard, daughter of David Remillard, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Her favorite subject is Math. Alexis likes playing her instrument in Band. She loves animals and likes to draw and color.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The last Picnic in the Park for 2024 was held the fourth Thursday of the month, Oct. 24, on a beautiful, sunny day. Many turned out to enjoy the trucks prior to shutting down for the winter. Picnic in the Park is held at the Lamar City Park and will return in March of 2023.

Photos by Barton County Chamber of Commerce/Kristy Robertson A grand opening/ribbon cutting was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at The 682, located on the south side of the Lamar square at 123 W. 11th St. Events throughout the afternoon and evening included an axe throwing competition, a pool tournament and a cornhole tournament. Also on the premises was Big RENs BBQ and live music was provided by Dallas Stump. For more information on this new business visit their facebook page at The 682.
