Farmers’ market donates to local theatres

A total of $438.61 was raised during the duration of the farmers’ market, with funds coming from the offering of popcorn and shaved ices. East Primary October Tigers of the Month
Photos by James Epple Volunteers helped light the massive amount of votive candles that were located on the Walk of Honor at the Barton County Memorial Park, along with the 69 service markers off to the side of veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice during World War II. A total of 840 veterans were recognized during the program, with many families attending in order to hear their loved one mentioned.

The Lamar R-1 School held its annual Veterans Day assembly at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, in the high school gym. Prior to the assembly, a breakfast was provided to the veterans by the Lamar FCCLA. The assembly featured several bands and choirs as they performed a variety of patriot songs and recognized the veterans that attended. The guest speaker was SGM Gary Barnes (ret), a 1975 Lamar High School graduate who served for 41 years, retiring in 2017. The program came to an end with the playing of “Taps”.
