Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Despite the rather chilly weather Friday night, Dec. 20, there was a huge attendance at Christmas in the Park, as children and adults both had a fun filled variety of events keeping them busy throughout the evening. Many took the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with trying to burst the pinata. The Girl Scouts offered cocoa, coffee and popcorn throughout the evening. The adults were having as much fun as the kids with the various games and helper Susan Roland works with Willow Renfro as she decorates a holiday card. The winners of the lighting contest were Kurt Marti Crop Insurance in the Business Division and the Girl Scouts in the Youth Division.

Karl Morey, president of Barton County Retired Educators, presented Evan Clements of the First Christian Church with a donation from the retired educators for the help that the church gives them for their monthly meetings.
