LHS holds signing day

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger Grace Scoville, daughter of Scotty Wagner and a Lamar High School senior, signed with William Penn University on Wednesday, Feb. 5. She was surrounded by her family as she signed her letter of intent. Grace will be going into Cheerleading at the university.

Liberal High School senior Jordan Goodell recently signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Crowder College, where both of her parents, Brandi and Jeremy Goodell, also played sports. Brandi played basketball and Jeremy played baseball. They, along with her brother Jack, are pictured. Goodell is a three-year standout for the Lady Bulldogs on the diamond. She will be looking to lead the team as they begin their season later this week at a tournament in Joplin.

The Lamar Elks Lodge recently donated $500 to the Mt. Vernon VA home for resident activities. The lodge also donated a box of writing materials for residents to use. Pictured left to right, are Walter Powell, Lloyd Pierson, David Kloppenberg, Cathy Pierson and Clayton Bell.

Catalina Sheriff, daughter of Gilbert and Elizabeth Sheriff, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. Catalina likes painting and doing make up in her free time. She has one cat named Tide. She participates in gymnastics and cheerleading. Things that are important to her are Jesus, church, skincare, family, friends and sports.
