TIMOTHY “TIM” RAY ABERNATHY

Timothy “Tim” Ray Abernathy, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Lamar, Mo. on February 19, 2025.

Tim was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on March 20, 1953, to Glenn and Patricia (Cline) Abernathy. On September 1, 1975, he married Judy Ann Bowling in Lamar, Mo.

Together they owned and operated Abernathy’s Automotive since 1976 and then the Golden Glow Laundry since May of 1980. 

Tim enjoyed his work, whether it was solving a problem with a vehicle, going out on wrecker calls or working on laundry equipment.

Tim never met a stranger and loved to meet and visit with everyone. He had a comeback answer to everything and kept his sense of humor almost to the end. Tim enjoyed day trips on weekends to flea markets and auctions.

He was a soft touch when it came to his grandchildren, who lit up his life. 

Tim is survived by his wife Judy, his son Laron (Brittney) and grandchildren, Laken, Owen and Oliver; two brothers, Joe (Marla) Flynn, Joplin and Jim (Janell) Flynn.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mike.

There are no services planned for Tim Abernathy.
